The Truro Dive Team exists to offer an opportunity for the children to develop and compete in the sport of diving. The team competes with other similar teams as part of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL). Membership is open to youths from the age of 5 through the summer following graduation from high school (normally, around 18). The program is developmental in nature and the main goal is to foster building confidence in, and mastery of, various dives from a one-meter springboard. Truro's team has won the top NVSL championship for the years 1997-2000. The team and the meets are run by Truro Community Center member volunteers, with Coaches being the only paid staff. The season goes from Memorial Day through roughly the first week in August. The parents/guardians of all dive participants are expected to volunteer in some capacity to help run the dive program.
