On May 20, 2003, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) held a news conference at the Truro pool to launch its “Don’t Swim With Shocks” campaign about electrical safety around swimming pools. The Truro pool was selected because it has an electrical sytem designed to prevent electrocution of swimmers, and is considered by the CPSC as a model for other community pools to follow regarding electrical safety.
